What is The New Sac Academy?
The New Sac Academy is a professional recording studio and post-secondary technical training school for Audio Engineering, Mixing, Mastering, and Music Production. We also offer classes and workshops for high schoolers and adults!
What makes The New Sac Academy different from other music schools?
This is not a theory-heavy classroom program. You learn inside a working studio, using real equipment, working on real sessions, guided by engineers and producers with decades of industry experience.
Do I need prior experience to enroll?
No. Whether you are just starting out or already creating music, the programs are designed to meet you where you are and help you level up quickly.
What programs do you offer?
We offer hands-on training in audio engineering, mixing, mastering, and music production, all focused on real-world skills you can actually use in the industry as a professional.
How long are the programs?
Programs are designed to give you practical, career-ready skills in a short timeframe, including options that can be completed in as little as one semester. Each program has their own timeline. You can learn more about each program and the length of each here.
Will I get to work on real music?
Yes. You will work on real sessions, real recordings, and real creative projects, not just practice exercises. This is where your portfolio starts.
What kind of equipment will I be using?
Students train on professional-grade studio equipment and software used in the industry today, so you are not learning on watered-down setups. To learn about the specific equipment for each course, please visit each individual course page.
You will be learning directly from industry professionals, including engineers and music producers with decades of experience and credits on platinum records. You can read about each staff member on the Staff page here.
No. We keep classes small (no more than 4-6 students) so you get real attention, real feedback, and actual time working in the studio.
What career paths can this lead to?
Graduates can pursue roles in audio engineering, music production, live sound, and other areas of the music and entertainment industry.
Is this school only for people who want a career in music?
Not at all. Some students come to build a career, others come to develop their artistry or finally bring their music to life. Both are welcome.
How much does tuition cost?
We believe music education should be accessible. Our tuition is significantly lower than many traditional programs, and we offer flexible payment options to fit any budget. You can find the cost of each program here.
Do you offer payment plans or financial flexibility?
Yes. We aim to work with serious students who are ready to learn. If cost is a concern, please reach out to us via phone or email and we can discuss options.
Where is the school located?
We are based in Sacramento, California, inside a professional recording and music producing facility, where both education and real music production happen.
You can apply directly through our website. Once we receive your application, we will reach out to discuss next steps and make sure the program is a good fit for you. You can access the application here.
What happens after I apply?
We will review your application, connect with you, and guide you through the enrollment process. We are looking for students who are serious, committed, and ready to learn.
Is there anything you expect from students?
Yes. Commitment, respect, and a willingness to learn. This is a real studio and music producing environment, not a passive classroom.
